Producing artistic director Larry Frenock announced a Gretna Theatre Broadway Bus Trip to New York City to see the Broadway revival of "Evita" and meet members of the cast who have previously appeared at Gretna Theatre for dinner after the show.

Gretna Theatre celebrates its 85th Anniversary season at the Mt. Gretna Playhouse with a sparkling opening performance by the one and only Tommy Tune in "Steps in Time" featuring the Manhattan Rhythm Kings for a single performance tonight, June 3 at 7:30 pm. The nine-time Tony Award winner will perform his Broadway biography in song and dance to celebrate 50 years on the Great White Way.

Gretna Theatre, under the Producing Artistic Direction of Larry Frenock, is entering the mid- point of its 84th season. Performing at the Mt. Gretna Playhouse sitting in the heart of the Pennsylvania Chautauqua, the theatre company continues to produce family musicals and comedies and remains an area gem.

Gretna Theatre is excited to present Academy Award winner Shirley Jones for one performance only on May 21, 2011 as its season kick-off event. 'Jones' one woman show, 'An Evening of Stories and Songs' will be a ‘stellar' beginning to the season,' said Gretna Theatre's producing artistic director Larry Frenock. 'We were fortunate to meet Ms. Jones when we attended her performance at the legendary Feinstein's night club while conducting our season auditions in New York City in March,' said Frenock. 'I asked if she might consider helping us with this fundraising event at Gretna Theatre and she accepted!'

Guests will be treated to a fully served dinner at the famed dining and lodging establishment in Myerstown followed by a cabaret featuring love songs from Broadway sung by two of our favorite leading actors, Timothy Shew and Jane Brockman. Gretna Theatre producing artistic director Larry Frenock said, 'We are so fortunate to have Broadway blockbuster talent such as Tim and Jane to star in our shows during the summer seasons. All the records that exist support the conclusion. Long-time members of the Board of Directors agree. There has never been a completely sold out performance of a play at Gretna Theatre. All that changed on Sunday when the Gretna Theatre production of NUNSENSE starring Sally Struthers broke all box office records for the 83-year-old company.

Still seeking one non-union actor for the role of M. Lindsey Woolsey in the classic musical comedy 'Mame' being produced this summer by Gretna Theatre at the Mt. Gretna Playhouse, Mt. Gretna, PA. Gretna Theatre is a professional summer stock company employing Broadway leading actors and nationally known directors and choreographers. All positions are paid weekly.
