CAMILLE A. BROWN is a prolific Black female director / choreographer, who has received numerous honors including a Guggenheim Award, Bessie Award, Jacob’s Pillow Dance Award, Doris Duke Artist Award, United States Artists Award, two Audelco Awards, five Princess Grace Awards, and a New York City Center Award. She has received a Tony nomination, three Drama Desk nominations, three Lortel nominations and an Obie award for her work in theater. She is an Emerson Collective fellow, a TED fellow and the recipient of a Ford Foundation Art of Change Fellowship. Brown is the 2021 Distinguished Artist, presented by The International Society for the Performing Arts.

Camille A. Brown has been nominated for several awards throughout her career, including Outstanding Choreography at the Drama Desk Awards for "Hell’s Kitchen," Outstanding Choreographer at The Lortels for "Hell's Kitchen," and Outstanding Direction of a Play at the Drama League Awards for "for colored girls who have considered suicide/when the rainbow is enuf." She has also been recognized with nominations for Outstanding Choreography at the Outer Critics Circle Awards and Outstanding Director of a Play at the Outer Critics Circle Awards for the same production. Additionally, Brown received nominations for Best Choreography and Best Direction of a Play at the Tony Awards for "for colored girls who have considered suicide / when the rainbow is enuf." Her other nominations include Outstanding Choreography at the Drama Desk Awards for "Choir Boy," Best Choreography at the Tony Awards for "Choir Boy," and Best Choreography at the BroadwayWorld Awards for "Once on this Island." She also won The LaDuca Award for Outstanding Choreography at the Drama Desk Awards for "Once on this Island" and received nominations for Outstanding Choreographer at the Outer Critics Circle Awards for the same show.
