Porchlight Music Theatre has announced the return of its free concert series Broadway in Your Backyard, July 19 - September 6, as part of Chicago Park District’s Night Out in the Parks series.

 TheatreWorks Silicon Valley will present the World Premiere of Jessica Dickey’s Nan and the Lower Body, an audience favorite at TheatreWorks’ 2019 New Works Festival.

Today's episode features stage and screen star Mary McCormack. Tony-nominated for her role in Broadway’s “Boeing Boeing” opposite Mark Rylance, she is also widely known for her four seasons as a regular cast member of “The West Wing' (two SAG Award nominations), as the lead of USA’s critically acclaimed “In Plain Sight,” and for her role opposite Howard Stern in Private Parts. 

TheatreWorks Silicon Valley will resume in-person performances when it launches its previously announced 51st season, featuring eight plays and musicals presented October 2021 through August 2022, kicking off with the new indie folk-rock musical Lizard Boy.

TheatreWorks Silicon Valley's Artistic Director Tim Bond and Executive Director Phil Santora announced today that the Tony Award-winning theatre will postpone the opening of its 51st mainstage season to March 2021, with eight plays presented through May 2022.

TheatreWorks Silicon Valley's Founding Artistic Director Robert Kelley, Artistic Director Designate Tim Bond, and Executive Director Phil Santora announced changes to TheatreWorks's 2020-21 Season, which is now scheduled to begin in October 2020.

Beginning August 5, getTV will begin airing episodes of the popular sitcom “Hot in Cleveland,” starring Valerie Bertinelli (“One Day at a Time”), Jane Leeves (“Frasier”), Wendie Malick (“Just Shoot Me”) and Betty White (“The Golden Girls”). The series, which ran on TVLand from 2010 to 2015, will air August 5 at 6PM ET.

Now on stage at Peninsula Players Theatre through July 28 is Agatha Christie's endearing, yet shrewd detective, Miss Marple, who is on the hunt for a crafty killer in 'A Murder is Announced,' by Leslie Darbon. Miss Marple is making her debut at America's oldest professional resident summer theater and Door County's theatrical icon.  Christie introduced Miss Marple to readers in 1927 when The Royal Magazine published her short story "The Tuesday Night Club," in which three people are poisoned at dinner and one dies.

Lovers of new theatre will gather this August for an advance look at tomorrow's hits at TheatreWorks Silicon Valley's 2019 New Works Festival at Palo Alto's Lucie Stern Theatre. This unique festival offers audiences an extraordinary opportunity to experience new plays and musicals in their early stages of development, and hear about the creative process in a "Meet the Artists" panel discussion. With multiple performances of each work, playwrights and composers are able to revise and refine their shows during the festival, allowing audiences to view the exciting evolution of brand new pieces of theatre. Mary McColl, Executive Director of Actors' Equity Association, has issued the following statement about Malcolm Ewen, a longtime Chicago-based stage manager who served as a National Councillor representing members on the Central Regional Board of Actors' Equity. Ewen passed away last night surrounded by loved ones following a battle with cancer.

Registration is now open for the MRT Young Company summer program, a professional theatre training program for high school students, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for three weeks, July 15 to August 2, in downtown Lowell. Nationally recognized creative producer, director, and performer Will Rogers will return to lead the program.
