Last year BroadwayWorld Orlando interviewed Rollins student Kathleen Capdesuñer when she directed DETROIT. This year Kathleen directed CONSTELLATIONS as her final piece before graduation. I had a chance to catch up with Kathleen to talk about the show.

U.S. Congresswoman Stephanie Murphy represents Florida's 7th district as the first Vietnamese-American woman to serve in the United States Congress. She will present 'Vietnam in Context' - in anticipation of Annie Russell Theatre's upcoming production of A Piece of My Heart - on Sunday, January 29 at 5pm.

The rigidness of the acclaimed PBS show Upton Abbey and the unpredictability and overall silliness of improv theater. These things could never work together... or could they? While these two genres of theater couldn't be more different, they come together to form both a hilarious and heartfelt night of theater.

Between theme parks, professional theatres, and arts organizations, Central Florida is one of the most fertile grounds for theatre artists in the country. Whether it is at Disney, Universal, Orlando Shakespeare, Mad Cow, the Orlando Rep, or any of the other wonderful organizations in town, you can find many different types of exciting theatre year-round in the City Beautiful. However, despite all of the well-known options in Orlando, one of the best-kept secrets in the community is that when it comes to consistently high quality, cutting-edge professional theatre, some of the best is at our local universities.

Every year at the anniversary of 9/11, we stop and reflect about where we were, who was lost and the events that followed. It always catches me by surprise how much time has passed since 2001. DYING CITY is a play that follows one family's life after 9/11, but not in the way you may think. Student director, Alliyah Corley took some time to answer BroadwayWorld Orlando's questions about the show.

The Annie Russell Theatre at Rollins College kicks off their 84th season with a modern-day farce that has quickly become a staple of the American stage. In The Foreigner, an Englishman arrives at a bed and breakfast in rural Georgia. Reeling from marital strife and suffering from crippling social anxiety, Charlie leads the residents of the inn to believe he doesn't speak English. The result? Not the peace and quiet he was hoping for.

As the school year begins again we get a fresh crop of productions from our local colleges. To kick off this season Rollins College presents THE FOREIGNER. Grace Zottig is a senior and is gaining some hands on experience at directing alongside Thomas Ouellette. Grace took some time out of her busy schedule to answer some of my questions. It is refreshing to hear from someone just at the start of her career.

The Rollins College theater season comes to a close with DETROIT. This play's plot and theme seems all too real for many Americans as it highlights life as an adult and the challenges we face. Playwright Lisa D'Amour came to Rollins College to speak about the play and see the first performances. Show director Kathleen Capdesuñer chatted with BroadwayWorld Orlando about her experience directing and learning from the show's playwright.

There is simply no overstating how fortunate Central Florida theatre fans are to have quality collegiate theatre programs in the area. While ticket sales are obviously still important for Theatre UCF and the Annie Russell Theatre at Rollins College, ultimately, their mission is not to produce the most commercially viable theatrical season in town; their goal is to give their talented students opportunities to challenge themselves, to learn about all aspects of their chosen profession, and to become the most well-rounded theatre artists that they can. And, because of this fact, Orlando is regularly blessed with brilliant productions like EXPECTING ISABEL, running at Rollins through Saturday, February 20th, that they might not otherwise be privileged to see.

The Annie Russell Theatre at Rollins College continues its 83rd season with Expecting Isabel, a contemporary comedy about a middle-aged couple's journey to parenthood. Miranda and Nick serve as candid narrators, chronicling their odyssey from the bedroom, to infertility clinics, to adoption agencies. We encounter a host of quirky characters as their very private struggle becomes public.
