Philadelphia Youth Orchestra Downingtown West HS Student Receives $30,000 Scholarship from The Union League (5/23/2013) - Maestro Louis Scaglione, President and Music Director of the Philadelphia Youth Orchestra (PYO), today announced that PYO percussionist Gregory LaRosa will receive a $30,000 scholarship from The Scholarship Foundation of The Union League of Philadelphia for his college education.

All told, campfire stories and mysterious urban legends inspire fresh, funny theater.

LOVE, LOSS, AND WHAT I WORE Set for Philadelphia Theatre Company This Summer With Aisha de Haas, Kate Flannery and More (5/22/2013) - Philadelphia Theatre Company announces that Mary Birdsong, Aisha de Haas, Kate Flannery, Ashley Austin Morris, andJoyce Van Patten will appear in the Philadelphia cast of Love, Loss, and What I Wore on June 25-July 7 at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre. This intimate collection of stories by sisters Nora Ephron and Delia Ephron and directed by Karen Carpenter is based on the best-selling book by Ilene Beckerman. Like the popular book, the show uses clothing, accessories and the memories they trigger to tell funny and often poignant stories to which all women can relate. This production is presented by special arrangement with producer Daryl Roth.

Disney Junior Live on Tour! Pirate and Princess Adventure Coming to Hershey Theatre; Tickets Go On Sale 5/28 (5/22/2013) - Feld Entertainment, Inc., producers of Disney On Ice and Disney Live!, is taking top performing cable TV series for preschoolers to the stage in Disney Junior Live On Tour! Pirate and Princess Adventure. Featuring characters from the smash hits Sofia the First and Jake and the Never Land Pirates, this brand new production will make a stop at Hershey Theatre on Saturday, November 9 for three performances.

Kemerer Museum of Decorative Arts Reopens Its Doors After Renovation, 5/24 (5/21/2013) - Historic Bethlehem Museum and Sites is holding a ceremony to announce the completion of construction on a 5,000 square foot addition to the Kemerer Museum of Decorative Arts.

The Media Theatre Presents THE VOCALIST CONTEST, 7/10-08/7 (5/21/2013) - The Media Theatre's summer singing contests 'The Vocalist' and its Junior counterpart start up the week after July Fourth. Two warm and welcoming emcees will preside over the competition. FOX-TV's morning anchor Sue Serio returns for her fourth summer and local actress Micki Sharpe begins a new tradition as the emcee for its Junior portion. The contest was previously titled 'Delco Idol'. It will, for the third year, be sponsored by Iron Workers Bank of Media and Aston.

THE LAST FIVE YEARS Runs 6/20-30 at 11th Hour Theatre Company (5/20/2013) - 11th Hour Theatre Company closes its season with the intimate chamber musical The Last Five Years by Jason Robert Brownon June 20-30 at University of the Arts' Caplan Studio Theatre (211 South Broad Street, 16th Floor). Directed by Megan Nicole O'Brien, the two-person cast stars Michael Philip O'Brien as Jaime and Cara Noel Antosca as Kathy.

ROCK OF AGES Returns to Philadelphia, June 14-16 (5/20/2013) - In 1987 on the Sunset Strip, a small-town girl met a big-city dreamer - and in L.A.'s most legendary rock club, they fell in love to the greatest songs of the '80's. It's ROCK OF AGES, a hilarious, feel-good love story told through the hit songs of iconic rockers Journey, Styx, REO Speedwagon, Foreigner, Pat Benatar, Whitesnake, and many more. This 5 time Tony nominated musical will return to Philadelphia as part of the Broadway Season on June 14 - 16 for five performances only at the Merriam Theater. The press opening is Friday, June 14 at 8:00 pm.

WICKED to Return to Philadelphia's Academy of Music, June 26-Aug. 4 (5/20/2013) - After breaking box office records and selling out in record time in 2010, WICKED, Broadway's biggest blockbuster, will return to the Academy of Music beginning June 26 - August 4 as part of the Broadway Season, presented by The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts.

Photo Flash: First Look at Walnut Street Theatre's GREASE (5/17/2013) - Walnut Street Theatre concludes its landmark 204th season with an all-new production of Broadway and Hollywood's smash-hit, GREASE. Directed by Bruce Lumpkin, with choreography by Michelle Gaudette, this musical extravaganza is currently in previews and opens on May 22nd, running through July 14th on the WST Mainstage. BWW Interviews: JD Triolo of Bucks County Playhouse's MAME (5/17/2013) - MAME, starring Andrea McArdle as Mame and Lea DeLaria as Vera Charles, will begin May 23, 2013 at Bucks County Playhouse. We had a chance to sit down with JD Triolo who plays young Patrick in the show.

Drexel Students Produce and Perform Two-Man Musical Comedy GUTENBERG!, 5/30-6/1 (5/16/2013) - he two-man musical spoof Gutenberg! The Musical! will take center stage in the new Black Box Theater in Drexel University's URBN Center Annex (3401 Filbert St.) from Thursday, May 30 - Saturday, June 1 at 8 p.m.

Lantern Theater Company Announces 20th Anniversary Season (5/16/2013) - In the midst of another record-breaking year of sold out performances and extended runs, Lantern Theater Companyannounces the productions that will comprise its 20th anniversary season in 2013/14. The season will begin with the Philadelphia premiere of Jane Austen's Emma in an adaptation by Michael Bloom, directed by Lantern Associate Artistic Director Kathryn MacMillan. During the holidays, the Lantern will present a world premiere adaptation of Dylan Thomas' A Child's Christmas in Wales, a co-creation by Lantern Artistic Director Charles McMahon and Philadelphia creator/performer Sebastienne Mundheim. In the spring, Lantern Artistic Director Charles McMahon directs William Shakespeare's epic tragedy Julius Caesar. The season will close with the Philadelphia premiere of South African playwright Athol Fugard's newest play, The Train Driver.
