The Players Club of Swarthmore Theater Opens CHILDREN OF EDEN, 4/20

The-Players-Club-of-Swarthmore-Theater-Opens-CHILDREN-OF-EDEN-420-20010101

The Players Club of Swarthmore Theater takes on the Old Testament in a moving, foot-
stomping musical by Stephen Schwartz (Godspell). The renowned composer, whose
works also include Wicked and Disney’s movie Pocahontas, partnered with John Caird
(les Misérables) to juxtapose the stories of Adam & Eve and Noah in Children of Eden –
opening April 20th. Part biblical parable, part family drama, this high-spirited adventure
is directed by Robert Welch (Wilmington, DE), who also directed The Players Club of
Swarthmore's recent hit – Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

Act one tells the biblical story of human beginnings – from the Garden of Eden to Cain
and Abel and beyond. Act two skips several generations to tell the story of Noah and the
ark. Schwartz and Caird take a look at these stories from some unfamiliar perspectives,
giving the characters more complexity than in their traditional portrayals.

Welch cast nearly four dozen talented performers from across the Greater Philadelphia
area to bring this spectacle to life. Heading up the large cast are: Erick J. Bayne of
Smyrna, DE as Father; Paul Recupero of Wayne as Adam; Bridget O'Donnell of
Havertown as Eve; Andrea Kalan of Bryn Mawr as Mama Noah; Jimmy May and Troy
Sheaffer, both of of Wilmington, DE as Noah and Japheth; and Emily Miller Huddell of
Moorestown, NJ as Yonah.

There will be a community discussion following the matinee performance on Sunday,
April 29th. Any ticket holders who wish to do so can remain following the performance
and chat with the actors and production staff. In fact, theater lovers who have
reservations for a different performance are welcome to come after the show and join in
the conversation as well.

Children of Eden runs April 20-22, 26-29, May 3-6 and 10-12, with performances Thu—
Sat @ 8pm and Sun @ 2pm. The Players Club of Swarthmore Theater is located
at 614 Fairview Road in Swarthmore, PA 19081—just off Route 320. The theater is
only minutes from I-95 and Route 476, with the R3 Regional Rail line within walking
distance, at The Edge of the Swarthmore College campus. The 300-seat Main stage is
fully handicapped accessible. The theater makes assisted listening devices available
at no charge and offers plenty of free off-street parking. For additional info about this
production or The Players Club, please visit www.pcstheater.org.
