Conductor Steven Reineke, Music Director of The New York Pops, will make his debut at The Mann Center on June 24 leading the Philadelphia Orchestra in a scintillating concert headlined by Broadway powerhouse Idina Menzel. The Tony Award-winning "Elphaba" from the internationAl Blockbuster musical Wicked performs a diverse repertoire of classic pop, Broadway favorites, and songs from her new album I Stand. This concert marks the launch of The Mann Center's PECO Pops series.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Idina Menzel is a Tony Award-winning actress with a diverse career on the stage, the screen, and in the recording studio.
A skillful songwriter, Idina writes and performs her own music. Last year, Menzel concluded a national tour promoting her album, I Stand (Warner Bros. Records) playing to packed houses around the United States, including New York's Mastercard Soundstage series, which aired on PBS. PBS also aired the concert version of Chess: The Musical, recorded at the Royal Albert Hall where Idina shared the stage with Josh Groban.

Menzel recently joined the cast of Glee, the Fox juggernaut about a varied group of high school kids who come together to sing as the underdog of glee clubs, as the coach of rival glee club Vocal Adrenaline. Additional television credits include the Grey's Anatomy hit spin-off Private Practice on ABC, and film projects include the Disney hit Enchanted opposite Patrick Dempsey, director Chris Columbus' film version of the Pulitzer and Tony Award winning musical Rent, and Robert Towne's Ask The Dust, opposite Salma Hayek and Colin Farrell.

After winning a Tony Award for her role as Elphaba in the Broadway hit Wicked, Idina reprised her role for the premiere of Wicked in London's West End in 2006 and received the Theatregoers Choice Award for Best Actress in a Musical. She also starred in Michael John LaChiusa's musical See What I Wanna See directed by Ted Sperling at The Public Theater, The Encores! production of Hair, Broadway's Aida, and Manhattan Theater Club's Off-Broadway original musical The Wild Party (Drama Desk nomination). Menzel received a Tony nomination for her Broadway debut performance as Maureen in the original production of the Pulitzer Prize-winning hit Rent.

Steven Reineke began his tenure as Music Director of The New York Pops in the 2009-2010 season. Mr. Reineke conducts the orchestra's annual concert series at Carnegie Hall as well as tours, recordings, and nationwide telecasts, including the annual Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular on NBC Television. Mr. Reineke is also Principal Pops Conductor of the Long Beach Symphony Orchestra and the Modesto Symphony Orchestra. In addition, he holds the title of Associate Conductor of the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra, where for fifteen years he served as a composer, arranger, and conducting protégé of the late celebrated pops conductor Erich Kunzel. Steven Reineke's notable conducting appearances include his Hollywood Bowl debut in 2007, his Carnegie Hall debut conducting The New York Pops in 2008, and his Boston Pops and Philadelphia Orchestra debuts in 2009. Mr. Reineke is also an established symphonic composer, with the most recent performances of his works by the New York Philharmonic and Los Angeles Philharmonic.
