ONCE UPON A MATTRESS Mount Saint Joseph Academy 11/2-11/10/2012
The 'G2K' Getting To Know Series: Uniquely adapted musicals specifically for youth performers. If you thought you knew the story of 'The Princess and The Pea,' you may be in for a walloping surprise! Did you know, for instance, that Princess Winnifred actually swam the moat to reach Prince Dauntless the Drab? Or that it may not have been the pea at all that caused the princess a sleepless night? Carried on a wave of beguiling songs, by turns hilarious and raucous, romantic and melodic, this rollicking spin on the familiar classic of royal courtship and comeuppance provides for some side-splitting shenanigans. Chances are, you'll never look at fairy tales quite the same way again. In this adaptation for pre-high school students, the content has been edited to better suit younger actors and audiences, but all the magic, hilarity and fun of the original are still in place. G2K? ONCE UPON A MATTRESS is the perfect show to introduce young people to the magic of live theater. Andrew Jackson in Broadway" border="0" height="100" width="100" align="right">
BLOODY BLOODY Andrew Jackson Robert Morris UNIVERSITY 11/7-11/11/2012
BLOODY BLOODY Andrew Jackson creators Michael Friedman and Alex Timbers cook up an alternate universe (and draw parallels to today's political/populist landscape) with their musical about the seventh U.S. president, reinvented as an "emo" rock star. BLOODY BLOODY Andrew Jackson tells the story of America's first political maverick. A.J. kicked British butt, shafted the Indians and smacked down the Spaniards all in the name of these United States--who cares if he didn't have permission? An exhilarating and white-knuckled look at one of our nation's founding rock stars, BLOODY BLOODY Andrew Jackson recreates and reinvents the life of "Old Hickory," from his humble beginnings on the Tennessee frontier to his days as Commander-in-Chief. It also asks the question, is wanting to have a beer with someone reason enough to elect him? What if he's really, really hot? This wildly entertaining 90-minute show is perfect for comedic actors and singers, with minimal dancing required. BLOODY BLOODY Andrew Jackson is an actor driven rather than design-dependent musical; it encourages breaking the fourth wall, audience participation, and rocking out!

URINETOWN UNIV OF SCRANTON LIVA ARTS COMPANY 11/8-11/11/2012
One of the most uproariously funny musicals in recent years, URINETOWN
is a hilarious tale of greed, corruption, love, and revolution in a
time when water is worth its weight in gold. In a Gotham-like city, a
terrible water shortage, caused by a 20-year drought, has led to a
government-enforced ban on private toilets. The citizens must use
public amenities, regulated by a single malevolent company that profits
by charging admission for one of humanity's most basic needs. Amid the
people, a hero decides he's had enough, and plans a revolution to lead
them all to freedom!
Inspired by the works of Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill, URINETOWN
is an irreverently humorous satire in which no one is safe from
scrutiny. Praised for reinvigorating the very notion of what a musical
could be, URINETOWN catapults the ?comedic romp? into
the new millennium with its outrageous perspective, wickedly modern
wit, and sustained ability to produce gales of unbridled laughter.

chilling, suspenseful, heart-pounding masterpiece of murderous
barber-ism and culinary crime tells the infamous tale of the unjustly
exiled barber who returns to 19th century London seeking revenge against
the lecherous judge who framed him and ravaged his young wife. His

in his heart for this intimate show, considered by many the most
charming musical ever written.Georg and Amalia are two feuding
clerks in a European parfumerie during the 1930's who secretly find

warm romantic comedy with an endearing innocence and a touch of old
world elegance and nostalgia, yet as universal and relevant as ever in
this age of internet romances.SHE LOVES ME

THE PRODUCERS STAGE 62 11/2-11/17/2012
Bialystock and Bloom! Those names should strike terror and hysteria in anyone familiar with Mel Brooks' classic cult comedy film. Now as a big Broadway musical, THE PRODUCERS
once again sets the standard for modern, outrageous, in-your-face
humor. It is a truly "boffo" hit, winning a record twelve Tony Awards
and wowing capacity crowds night after night.
The plot is simple: a down-on-his-luck Broadway producer and his
mild-mannered accountant come up with a scheme to produce the most
notorious flop in history thereby bilking their backers (all "little old
ladies") out of millions of dollars. Only one thing goes awry: the show
is a smash hit! The antics of Max Bialystock and Leo Bloom as they
maneuver their way fecklessly through finding a show (the gloriously
offensive "Springtime For Hitler"), hiring a director, raising the money
and finally going to prison for their misdeeds is a lesson in broad
comic construction. At the core of the insanely funny adventure is a
poignant emotional journey of two very different men who become friends.
With a truly hysterical book co-written by Mel Brooks
and Thomas Meehan
(ANNIE) and music and lyrics by Mr. Brooks
, THE PRODUCERS skewers Broadway traditions and takes no prisoners as it proudly proclaims itself an "equal opportunity offender!"

INTO THE WOODS SUSQUEHANNA UNIVERSITY 11/8-11/17/2012
An ambivalent Cinderella? A blood-thirsty Little Red Ridinghood? A
Prince Charming with a roving eye? A Witch...who raps? They're all
among the cockeyed characters in James Lapine
and Stephen Sondheim's
fractured fairy tale. When a Baker and his Wife learn they've been
cursed with childlessness by the Witch next door, they embark on a quest
for the special objects required to break the spell, swindling, lying
to and stealing from Cinderella, Little Red, Rapunzel and Jack (the one
who climbed the beanstalk). Everyone's wish is granted at the end of
Act One, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them
later, with disastrous results. What begins a lively irreverent fantasy
in the style of The Princess Bride becomes a moving lesson about community responsibility and the stories we tell our children. One of Sondheim's most popular works, INTO THE WOODS is a timeless yet relevant piece and a rare modern classic.

InVersion Theatre is excited to announce its upcoming production, SHEPARD/BECKETT, coming to Walnut Street Theatres Studio 5 this November.
SHEPARD/BECKETT is the third production from InVersion Theatre, which was founded in 2011 by Managing Director Johnny Lloyd and Artistic Director William SteinbergeR. Shepard/BECKETT is an evening of short plays by award-winning authors Sam Shepard and Samuel Beckett, curated by the InVersion team. The production will consist of Shepards Red Cross and Killers Head and Becketts Catastrophe and Footfalls. SHEPARD/BECKETT will explore themes of power and powerlessness, control and entrapment, and disintegration and liberation as the plays protagonists grapple with very real questions of how to live in this world.
Red Cross focuses on, Jim, a man seemingly in a psychiatric ward and his relationships with a fellow patient and staff maid, both of whom begin to infect Jims body and mind. Killers Head is a solo play featuring a cowboy forced to face his reckoning. In Catastrophe, a director and his assistant try to carve the perfect piece of art from a mysteriously silent protagonist. Footfalls tells the story of a woman and her elderly mother both beginning to fade into nothingness. Director William Steinberger is aided by an ensemble of actors, each creating multiple roles over the course of the evening. The production features Will Thompson (Hazard County, Azuka Theatre; The Well, Quince Productions); Brian Ratcliffe (Hazard County, Azuka Theatre; Myths and Monsters, Philly Improv Theater); Hannah Gold (Microcrisis, InterAct Theatre Company); and Lizzie Spellman (Awesome Alliteration: The Magical Musical, BetaMale Productions).

THE MUSIC MAN Walnut Street Theatre 11/6-1/6/2013
An affectionate paean to Smalltown, U.S.A. of a bygone era, Meredith Willson?s ?The Music Man? follows fast-talking traveling salesman Harold Hill as he cons the people of River City, Iowa into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys? band he vows to organize ? this despite the fact he doesn?t know a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian the librarian, who transforms him into a respectable citizen by curtain?s fall. brbrPerfect for professional theatres, community groups, summer stock and schools alike, this award-winning, critically acclaimed Broadway classic is an all-American institution, thanks to its quirky characters, charmingly predictable dramatic situations, and one-of-a-kind, nostalgic score of rousing marches, barbershop quartets and sentimental ballads which have become popular standards. The cast features a soaring soprano ingenue, parts for young performers and children, and one of the musical theatre?s treasures, a tour de force leading role for a charismatic actor who doesn?t need to be a trained singer.
