The Media Theatre is offering a Holiday Camp, December 26-31, for youth ages 6 and up. The Camp will meet from 9am to noon on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Monday. Tuition includes a free ticket for campers to see "A Velveteen Rabbit Christmas" on Saturday morning.

The Holiday Camp is based on The Media Theatre's popular summer camp and will include daily classes in vocal music, acting, and basic stage movement. "This is a terrific winter experience for young people who have an interest in performing," said Artistic Director Jesse Cline. "Rather than staying home each morning in front of the television or with technological games and computers, this puts the emphasis on learning while doing. It's a fun way to stay busy with other youth who have the same interests."

The vocal music lessons will be instructed by the theatre's resident music director Tom Fosnocht, who also instructs its New School. Cline and his staff will instruct the acting lessons through improvisational theatre exercises and scenes.

"This Camp does not require any stage experience," Cline explained. "Just like our summer camp, it's good for those who have experience and those who are just beginning. We work with each student based on their level and ability."

"We are Delaware County's only professional music theatre, year-round," Cline said. "We hope to offer opportunities to youth throughout the year that will allow them to focus on their interest in music theatre. These lessons also strengthen self-awareness and confidence. Studies have shown that young people who become educated in the performing arts actually have more focus in whatever it is they do."
