Maureen McGovern Returns to New Hope July 29-30

Multi-platinum-selling singer, actress, Maureen McGovern, will return to Bucks County for performances at Bob Egan's Cabaret Supper Club, Friday, July 29 and Saturday, July 30 at 8:30 pm each evening. Tickets are $45.

McGovern returns to the area with a brand new show entitled "dangling conversations ..." Celebrating what McGovern calls the 'second half of The Great American Songbook', "dangling conversations ..." offers audiences classic songs by iconic singers/songwriters including Leonard Cohen, Bruce Springsteen, J.D. Souther, Joni Mitchell, Randy Newman, Jonathan Brooke, Burt Bacharach, Don McLean and Pete Seeger. "Turn, Turn Turn," "A House is Not A Home," "Suzanne," "Help Me... I Think I'm Falling" and "Anyone Who Had A Heart," are among the classic songs that McGovern will include in this concert evening, which celebrates our lives through song. This new show, stated to appear in New York City later this season, is a follow-up to McGovern's very popular and critical hit "A Long and Winding Road." The CD "dangling conversations ..." is expected to be released in Fall 2011.

Maureen McGovern, whose career spans 40 years, includes theatre, film and a rich recording history. McGovern received Grammy nominations for "Best New Artist" and "Best Traditional Pop Vocal." She was a guest artist on Grammy Award winning "Best Musical Recording for Children," Oscar-winning Gold Records "The Morning After" (Billboard #1) and "We May Never Love Like This Again." Her current CD, released on PS Classics is "A Long and Winding Road,"which was praised by The New York Times as "a captivating musical scrapbook," while McGovern's technique was hailed as "second to none." Other critically acclaimed musical tributes include her Gershwin, Arlen, Rodgers, Marilyn and Alan Bergman CDs and more.

On Broadway, McGovern was nominated for a Drama Desk award for her role in
Little Women,The Musical. She appeared in The Pirates of Penzance, Nine, 3 Penny Opera, and the Broadway 1st National Tours of Little Women, The Musical and The King and I.

She has toured with her own show, "Carry It On" (formerly: "A Long and Winding Road") for which she received the IRNE Award for "Best Solo Performance," "Elegies," "Dear World", "Letters From 'Nam" (originating the role of 'Eleanor Bridges'), "The Lion in Winter", "The Umbrellas of Cherbourg", "Of Thee I Sing", "Let 'Em Eat Cake", "The Sound of Music", "South Pacific", "Guys & Dolls", "I Do, I Do" and "The Bengal Tiger's Ball" (composed the music, co-created and starred).

On screen, audiences may remember McGovern for her role as a singing nun in "Airplane!" and for her appearance in "The Towering Inferno."
