Luna Theater Company Presents BACHELORETTE 1/28-2/18

Luna-Theater-Company-Presents-BACHELORETTE-20010101

Luna Theater Company will present the Philadelphia premiere of Leslye Headland’s Bachelorette from January 28 – February 18 at the Skybox at the Adrienne Theatre 2030 Sansom Street. Tickets are $18.00-$28.00 and are available at www.LunaTheater.org

ABOUT THE PRODUCTION

"Bachelorette is a play about the in-between space. The place you are when you're reconciling who you thought you were gonna be when you grew up with who you become. The place when partying starts to look a lot like addiction. The moment you used to pass off as a bad night of drinking, sex and mistakes have suddenly extended into a bad life of drinking, sex and mistakes." - Leslye Headland

ABOUT THE PLAY

Ten years out of high school, Regan, Gena and Katie convene in the luxurious bridal suite of their old friend, Becky, the night before her wedding inNew York City. Fueled by jealousy and resentment, the girls embark on a night of debauchery that goes from playfully wasted to devastatingly destructive. Their old fears, unfulfilled desires and deep bonds with each other transform a prenuptial bender into a night they'll never forget. A wicked black comedy about female friendship and growing up in an age of excess.

ABOUT THE PLAYWRIGHT

Leslye Headland is a Los Angeles-based playwright and screenwriter. She is the writer/director of the Seven Deadly Plays series, which was produced by and premiered at the IAMA Theatre Company in Los Angeles. The series includes Cinephilia (lust), Bachelorette (gluttony), Assistance (greed), Surfer Girl (sloth), Reverb (wrath) and The Accidental Blonde (envy). Bachelorette also enjoyed a sold-out, extended run at Second Stage Theatre Uptown in July 2010. Other New York credits include Cinephilia at Theatre Row. Ms. Headland is currently working on her final play for the series (pride), as well as commissions for Second Stage Theatre and South Coast Repertory. On Television, she wrote the first and only season of “Terriers,”created by Ted Griffin and produced by Shawn Ryan, on FX. The film version of Bachelorette, produced by Gary Sanchez Productions (Adam McKay and Will Ferrell) and directed by Ms. Headland, will debut this February at Sundance Film Festival. With Gary Sanchez Productions, she’s also developing a pilot based on Julie Klausner’s memoir, I Don’t Care About Your Band. She holds a B.F.A. in Drama from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and studied at Playwrights Horizons Theatre School where she was awarded the Robert Moss Prize.

ABOUT LUNA THEATER COMPANY

Dedicated to intimate, intelligent, and intense work that delves into the human psyche, Luna Theater Company is the up-and-coming destination for today’s provocative voices, with a love for the darkly tragic-comic. Bachelorette... is the second selection of Luna Theater Company’s Tenth Anniversary “Identity Crisis ”Season. As it celebrates its first decade of producing edgy, entertaining works for Philadelphia theatergoers, Luna launches into the next ten years with a trio of productions, built on questions of modern identity and change against the rigors and offerings of the modern world. The final installment in the Season will be Luna Theater's first ever '10-Minute Play Festival in June 2012.
