The taiko drummers of KODO provide a pulse-pounding percussive performance of Japanese folk and contemporary music with One Earth Tour 2013: Legend in Philadelphia on March 25, 2013at 7:30 p.m. in Verizon Hall. The theme of the 2013 world tour, 'One Earth,' showcases KODO's desire to transcend language and cultural boundaries and remind people of the common bond we all share as human beings.

KODO translates to mean 'heartbeat,' the primal source of all rhythm, and 'children of the drum.' For nearly 30 years, the group has captured and performed the universal spirit and energy of taiko. The 14-member group exhibits visceral skill, dexterity and stamina with instruments ranging from hand-held cymbals to the 800 pound o-daiko, in arrangements of traditional Japanese folk music and original contemporary compositions.

Tickets are available for $30-$65, plus applicable service charges, and can be purchased at kimmelcenter.org, 215-893-1999, or at the box office located at Broad and Spruce streets, Philadelphia, Pa. (open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., later on performance evenings).
