Ker-pow! Act II Playhouse Producing Artistic Director Bud Martin announced that its 11th season opener, the Tony Award-winning hit comedy Boeing-Boeing, has been extended by a week, to Oct. 24.

Martin also announced that Broadway, film and television star Malcolm Gets will appear at a special post-show Tuesday talkback on Oct. 20. Gets, most recognized for his role as Richard in the TV sitcom Caroline in the City, is currently starring in the off-Broadway dark comedy Vigil and last appeared on Broadway in the Drama Desk Award-nominated musical The Story of My Life, which Act II will produce in April 2010.

Six performances of Boeing-Boeing have been added to Act II's four-week run: a 2 p.m. matinee on Saturday, Oct. 17 and five evening performances on Oct. 20-24. Wednesday through Saturday performances during the extension week will begin at 8 p.m.; the Tuesday, Oct. 20 performance will begin at 7:30 p.m., followed by Gets' talkback appearance.

"The smoother Boeing-Boeing rides, the funnier it is," says Howard Shapiro of The Philadelphia Inquirer. "The production is directed by Act II's associate artistic director, Harriet Power, who has assembled a ker-pow cast of mostly local actors headed by the versatile Anthony Lawton, who excels at intense characters, and Tony Braithwaite, whose keen comedic sense has made him the region's all-round Sprite. (The kind with bubbles and sugar.)" Also featured in Act II's production are Kristyn Chouiniere, Jessica DalCanton, Sarah Doherty, and Deven Walker.

Tickets are $25 for Tuesday through and $30 for all Friday -Sunday performances. Tickets can be ordered online at www.act2.org, in person at Act II at 56 E. Butler Avenue, or by calling the Act II Box Office at (215) 654-0200. Boeing-Boeing is sponsored by the Philadelphia law offices of Fox Rothschild. B-101 is the exclusive season radio sponsor of Act II Playhouse's 2009-10 season.

Boeing-Boeing features a design by James Leitner (lighting; Barrymore Award for Act II's 2004 production of Mary's Wedding), and by Barrymore nominees Dirk Durossette (scenery), Millie Hiibel (costumes), and Mark Valenzuela (sound).

ABOUT MALCOLM GETS

Malcolm Gets, currently starring in the dark off-Broadway comedy Vigil, has also appeared in New York in The Story of My Life, Amour (Tony and Drama Desk nominations), The Moliere Comedies, A New Brain, Merrily We Roll Along (Drama Desk nomination and Obie Award), The Two Gentlemen of Verona (Obie Award), Hello Again, Boys and Girls, Polish Joke, Finian's Rainbow, Juno and for Encores!, in both The Boys From Syracuse and The Apple Tree. His films include "Thirteen Conversations About One Thing," "Love in the Time of Money," "Adam and Steve," "Sex and the City" and the new HBO film of "Grey Gardens," in which he stars opposite Jessica Lange and Drew Barrymore.
