11th Hour Theatre Co Announces 7th Season, Begins With Bomb-itty Of Errors

11th-Hour-Theatre-Company-Announces-Seventh-Season-20010101

11th Hour Theatre Company's artistic staff is pleased to announce its exciting 2011-2012 season, their seventh as a professional company. The company who has continually worked to produce new musicals and present classic musicals in new ways is about to embark on one of its most ambitious seasons to date.

"This is a huge step for 11th Hour! Producing our first 3 show season will help us to continue to establish ourselves as one of the premier producers of theatre in Philadelphia, while also growing our audience and subscription base at the same time." said Michael Phillip O'Brien, 11th Hour Theatre Company's Producing Artistic Director.

The company is opening the season with a favorite from its past, remounting it's Barrymore-award winning production of The Bomb-itty of Errors. Their second show is the Philadelphia Premiere of Adam Gwon's Ordinary Days, which will be directed by Barrymore and Helen Hayes Award-winner Joe Calarco. Next up will be the 7th Annual Philly Rocks Concert, featuring Philly's top performers living out their rock and roll fantasies! To close their season, 11th Hour will produce See What I Wanna See, written by Michael John LaChiusa and based on short stories by Ryunosuke Akutagawa, which will be co-directed by 11th Hour founders Megan Nicole O'Brien and Steve Pacek and musically directed by Barrymore Award winner Dan Kazemi.

11th Hour will also produce it's first ever Gala on Friday, November 11, 2011 (11-11-11). Taking advantage of this once in a lifetime opportunity and as "The Official [un]Official Sponsors of 2011", the company will host a day-long extravaganza that will include an afternoon family event, VIP USO-style cocktail party and finish with a concert of 11o'clock numbers from groundbreaking musicals of the past and present. Featuring some of Philadelphia's best performers, this will be one of the largest events ever produced by 11th Hour.

The company is offering subscriptions for the first time ever. The costs are: Four Show Subscription: $90; Three Show Subscription: $70; Single tickets will cost $15 - $30

The 2011-2012 Season
The Bomb-itty of Errors
Previews: September 1st - 7th
Opening: September 8th
Closing: September 25th

Written By:
Jordan Allen-Dutton, Jason Catalano, GQ and Erik Weiner. Music by J.A.Q
Directed By:
Megan Nicole O'Brien

11th Hour Theatre Company is set to bring back the funk with this Barrymore Award winner that was a recent hit at Milwaukee Rep. In this ad-rap-tation of Shakespeare's The Comedy of Errors, four actors play over a dozen roles as they rap their way through this modern take on a classic tale of mistaken identity. This fast, funny, and occasionally flamboyant musical is hip-hop heaven for Shakespeare fans and B-Boys alike! The show earned seven Barrymore nominations during its last run and won the Barrymore for ensemble in a musical.

Ordinary Days - Philadelphia Premiere
Previews: November 25th - 30th
Opening: December 1st
Closing: December 18th

Written By: Adam Gwon
Directed By: Joe Calarco

From one of musical theatre's most exciting new composers, Ordinary Days tells the story of four young New Yorkers whose lives intersect as they search for fulfillment, happiness, love and cabs. With equal doses of humor, poignancy and memorable songs, this is an original musical about the struggle to appreciate the simple things in a complex place. This show will star 11th Hour founders Michael Philip O'Brien and Steve Pacek. The company is thrilled to welcome Barrymore and Helen Hayes Award Winner Joe Calarco (Philadelphia Theatre Company's (The Light in the Piazza and The Last Five Years).

7th Annual Philly Rocks Concert
Sold out for the past 6 seasons, Philly Rocks has become one of the "can't miss" events of the Philadelphia Theatre Season! This exciting annual concert features top local performers living out their rock star fantasies while singing some of the greatest rock songs ever written.

See What I Wanna See
June - July 2012

Written by Michael John LaChiusa, Based on short stories by Ryunosuke Akutagawa
Co-Directed by Megan Nicole O'Brien and Steve Pacek

Praised by the Associated Press as "an intelligent, adult musical that entertains and astonishes at the same time," See What I Wanna See is about love, betrayal, truth and faith. A triptych of stories and styles woven together by similar themes, this ambitious musical gives audiences a glimpse into three different worlds - an adulterous couple in medieval Japan, a gangster and the doll he desires in 1950's New York, and a priest who is losing his faith in Manhattan today.

11-11-11 Gala
Friday, November 11th
11th Hour Theatre Company is pulling out all the stops for this full-day extravaganza. It will begin with an afternoon of family fun where the funds will be split with the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Then, the company will host a special USO-themed VIP Cocktail hour to be followed by a thrilling concert featuring 11th Hour stars and other favorites. Throughout the day there will be raffles and live and silent auctions. Since the event will be held on Veterans' Day, 11/11/11 is also Veteran's Day, the company is honoring the holiday and partnering with the Philadelphia Veteran's Multi-Service and Education Center.
